Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 24 September 2026
These terms apply to your use of Playing Brass (playingbrass.com), which is run by Scott Kardash in New South Wales, Australia. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. Questions are welcome at scott@playingbrass.com.
1. What the site offers
Playing Brass publishes free articles, videos and study material for brass players, parents and teachers. The shop offers two free digital downloads:
- the How to Play Trombone ebook, and
- the Lesson and Practice Journal.
Nothing is sold on the site. The downloads cost nothing and no payment details are collected.
2. Getting the free downloads
To get a download, you go through the shop’s checkout and may create an account. Please give a working email address, because that’s where your download links are sent. You’re responsible for keeping your account login secure. We may limit or cancel orders that look automated or abusive, and we may change or withdraw a download at any time.
3. How you may use our content
All articles, images, videos, the ebook and the Lesson and Practice Journal are © Scott Kardash, unless we say otherwise. You’re welcome to:
- read, download and print them for your own learning or teaching;
- print the Lesson and Practice Journal for each of your own students;
- share links to any page on the site.
Please don’t republish, sell, or pass off our content as your own, or host the downloads elsewhere, without written permission. Short quotes with a credit and a link back are fine.
Some material on the site isn’t ours. For example, Arban’s Complete Method is a public-domain work, and videos and linked resources belong to their owners. Their own terms apply to them.
4. Advice and your safety
The content on this site is general educational information from one teacher’s experience. It isn’t a substitute for lessons with a qualified teacher who can see and hear you play, or for medical advice. Breathing exercises, breath-holding and practice routines should be done within your own limits. Stop if you feel dizzy, light-headed or in pain, and talk to a doctor if you have any health concerns, particularly heart, lung or dental conditions. Parents and teachers should supervise young players. We work hard to keep the information accurate, but we can’t guarantee that it’s complete, current or right for your situation.
5. Comments, questions and messages
If you leave a comment or use a contact form:
- please be respectful, and don’t post anything unlawful, offensive, misleading, spam or advertising, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights;
- you give us permission to publish, edit and reply to your comment on the site, and to use a question you send us in an article or FAQ. We won’t publish your email address, and we’ll only use your first name unless you agree otherwise;
- we may moderate, edit or remove anything you submit.
6. Things you mustn’t do
Don’t use the site to break the law, attempt to gain unauthorised access, interfere with the site or its security, scrape it at scale, or upload malicious code. We may block access for anyone who does.
7. Links, videos and advertising
We link to and embed content from other websites, such as YouTube, and the site displays advertising from Google AdSense. We don’t control those sites or ads and aren’t responsible for their content, products or practices. A link or ad isn’t an endorsement unless we say so. When we review a product, it’s our honest opinion. If we’ve been given the product or have any commercial connection to it, we’ll say so in the review.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect and how we use it.
9. Availability and changes
The site and downloads are provided free and “as is”. We may change, suspend or remove any part of the site at any time, and we don’t promise it will always be available or error-free.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can’t be excluded. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, the downloads, or any information on the site or on linked sites. Because everything on the site is free, our total liability to you, where it can’t be excluded, is limited to resupplying the relevant content.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of New South Wales.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
